Introduced at the height of the Cold War, the US's SR-71 Blackbird was the successor to the U2 and the next generation of high speed reconnaissance spy planes. The plane - that flew at 2200 - is long gone....now replaced by the SR-72....a plane known as the Son of Blackbird.
This one, is not only hypersonic - flying potentially at Mach 7 or more than 4400 miles an hour.....it is also autonomous.
