The Broward Sheriff's Office holding a ceremony this morning at the Faith Center in Sunrise to pay tribute to its nine employees who lost their battles with COVID-19.
"We wanted to make sure that they're not forgotten. We want the County to know that we cherish their legacies, but we had to be careful. We don't want to put anybody else in danger," says spokesperson Veda Coleman-Wright.
With case numbers and hospitalizations significantly down, the department determined this was the right time and setting to offer people the opportunity to come together and celebrate the lives of their fallen.
Today's ceremony is taking place at 10:00 a.m. It's open to the public. Masks are required. It's also being live streamed on the BSO's YouTube channel. Click here to watch.
