A community is set to come together tonight to pay tribute to a Hollywood police officer shot while responding to 911 calls about a suspicious incident.
Police say Officer Yandy Chirino and Jason Banegas got into a scuffle Sunday night, and Chirino was shot in the face. He died a short time later at the hospital.
A prayer vigil is scheduled to begin at 5:45 p.m. at Mara Berman Giulianti Park, which is located a short distance away from where the incident took place.
The suspect, 18-year-old Jason Banegas, is being held without bond on charges that include felony murder.
