(New Orleans, LA) -- Forecasters say Ida could grow to a Category 4 hurricane when it makes landfall Sunday.
Category 4 hurricanes have winds of at least 130 miles per hour. Right now, storm models show Louisiana's coast as the bullseye, and if that holds, Hurricane Ida would hit on the 16th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina. Ida is expected to become a hurricane later today.
Parts of Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida could see dangerous storm surge as high as eleven feet due to the storm.
New Orleans is under a hurricane watch. A tropical storm watch is in effect for the area from the Mississippi and Alabama border to Alabama's border with Florida.
