Miami has found its new police chief in Texas.
Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo will officially take the helm at Miami Police in about four to eight weeks.
He says he knows there's a lot of pain in this nation. "Unless with take the time to feel that pain, process that pain, acknowledge that pain of communities of color that disproportionately are impacted by bad policing, we will never get beyond the summer of 2020."
The Cuban born 56-year-old will focus on building community trust and promises transparency, respect, engaging people in the good times and accountability.
After leading the department for three years, Jorge Colina retired as police chief last month.
