Florida begins February with an average of more than 2,100 fewer new daily cases of COVID-19 compared to January. The current seven-day average is the lowest since December 30th.
On a related note, nearly 1.7 million Floridians have received at least a first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine based on Sunday’s daily report from the Florida Department of Health. A total of 1,364,416 first doses have been administered with 314,528 Floridians having completed the two-dose schedule. An estimated 3 million Floridians eligible under Florida’s phase one vaccination plan have expressed a desire to obtain a vaccination.
The Florida Department of Health has launched a vaccine pre-registration website. The site myvaccine.fl.gov allows Floridians to preregister on the website which will automatically notify you when appointments open up in your area. The site is currently only accepting registrations for those eligible under Florida’s Phase 1 vaccination plan.
Lastly, the Town of Palm Beach is set to take up a matter in its February meeting related to Donald Trump’s use of Mar-a-Lago as a permanent residence. Detractors of the former president’s relocation to Mar-a-Lago are citing a 1993 agreement between the Mar-a-Lago club and the City which would preclude stays of longer than seven consecutive days by Donald Trump. It’s worth noting the Trump family have stayed in excess of seven consecutive days multiple times over the years without action being taken by Palm Beach.
