Florida’s cabinet formally approved the entire agenda of Florida Forever which has 125 different environmental projects. This includes land purchases and conservation projects across the state.
Florida’s Inspector General, Melinda Miguel, provided an update on the investigation into Florida’s failed Connect unemployment system. She said the investigation has taken the state back to 2007, four years prior to the rollout of the project awarded to Deloitte Consulting by the Crist administration. Quoting Miguel “We want to follow all of the money”. Speaking of the state’s unemployment system.
While over 70% of claims have been successfully processed, 371,000 Floridians who’ve attempted to file for unemployment and appear to be eligible, are still waiting for status updates and/or payouts. New unemployment filings dropped 23% week over week suggesting the state might being nearing at least a near-term bottom in the economic fallout from the pandemic.
