It has been two years since the tragic shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas high school in Parkland, FL. A day that we will remember for the rest of our lives. Around the state and country many will be holding vigils throughout the day to commemorate the 17 victims who lost their lives.
Both Broward and Miami-Dade county school districts will be holding a moment of silence on Valentine's Day (Friday February 14th) at 10:17am to honor the victims of the mass shooting.
The City of Parkland has planned an entire day to remember and honor the victims of the tragedy. The Community Commemoration at the Parkland Recreation and Enrichment Center will be held from 1:00pm to 8:00pm on February 14th. With support services available starting at 1:00pm, there will be therapy dogs, art, and music therapists available. A moment of silence will be observed at 2:21pm.

"At Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, Friday, February 14, will be a non-academic day.
“This day will be a day of service and love in honor of our 17 Fallen Eagles,” said Principal Michelle Kefford.
Parents were asked to complete an intention form to indicate whether their children would be absent or participate in one of the on-campus service projects on February 14.If the student stays home, a phone number must be provided for contact throughout the day."

- Time: 1:00 – 5:00pm
- Place: Parkland Recreation and Enrichment Center
- Clinical art therapist Alicia Ballestas will be on-site. Ballestas helps people develop practical skills to meet their needs and express themselves through visual arts. Also on-site will be music therapist Bree Gordon. She is board-certified, trained and certified by the Academy of Neurologic Music Therapy at Colorado State University and a managing partner at the Palm Beach Music Therapy Institute.
-Commemoration Ceremony
- Time: 5:00pm – 5:30pm
- Place: Pine Trails Park Amphitheater
- A commemoration ceremony conducted by spiritual leaders to honor the 17 victims and the Marjory Stoneman Douglas community.
-Eagles’ Haven
- Time: 9:00am to 8:00pm
- Place: The Eagles’ Haven community wellness center, 5655 Coral Ridge Drive
- Eagles’ Haven serves the Marjory Stoneman Douglas community through programming and support services. On Feb. 14, the center will have a full day of programming.
-Sacred Art Tour
- Time: 10:00am – 5:30pm
- Place: Coral Springs Museum of Art
- Monks from the Drepung Gomang Monastery in India will share ancient teachings and beliefs to discuss global peace, nonviolent conflict resolution, compassion and wisdom.
-Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church
- Time: 12:00pm
- Place: 5980 N. University Drive, in Parkland
- Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church will host a holy hour for peace and healing. The public is invited to “share in a sacred time to quiet your thoughts and be comforted.”
-Peace and love
- Time: 3:00pm
- Place: Intersection of Sample Road and Sportsplex Drive in Coral Springs
- A 130 foot long by 30 foot high billboard art installation created by R & R Studios will open to visitors and will remain there until May. Its installation creates a place of awe and recollection and is a beacon of compassion and care for the Marjory Stoneman Douglas community.
