The song says "Saturday Night Is the Loneliest Night of the Week," but a new study finds plenty of people are home alone on Friday night too.
A survey of 2,000 British adults found one in five are typically lonely on a Friday night and two-thirds sometimes feel lonely over the weekend.
Almost half said it gets harder to find weekend plans as they get older. In fact, 39% say they often find themselves wishing anyone would ask them to go out for a night on the town.
So why are there so many homebodies?
A third say they are too tired, 30% say they have too much work to do, and 39% said arranging a Friday date night is just too complicated.
The survey also found that the average British adult stops going out and frequenting bars regularly around the age of 32.
Amazingly, 15% of the survey’s respondents even say they would pay for someone’s drinks all night just so they could have some company.
