Men could soon have a new option when it comes to birth control.
Doctors in India have developed what they say is the first injectable contraceptive for men and it's just completed clinical trials.
The Council for Medical Research says there is a 97.3% success rate for the contraceptive that is delivered via injection under anesthesia. The doctors say the injection is delivered to the sperm-containing tube near the testicles in a procedure than is less-invasive than a vasectomy.
The procedure could be available to the public in India by next summer. A similar product under development in the U.S. is still years from approval.
