Newspaper Circulation Lowest In Decades

Newspaper readership is down, but just how bad is the newspaper business?

Total daily newspaper circulation is at its lowest level since 1940.

Combined published and digital newspaper subscriptions dropped 8% just last year to 28.6-million users.

The audience for local TV news is also falling fast. The Pew Research study found morning show viewing dropped 10-percent last year and late local news viewing dropped 14-percent.

The study found that digital ad revenue is growing exponentially, but most of that revenue goes to either Facebook or Google, bypassing local publishers.
