Is Former Miss Michigan Right By Saying It's Hard To Be Conservative?

Four days is all it took for activists to find what they considered to be dirt on former Miss Michigan Kathy Zhu before she was stripped of her crown. Her offense? Two old social media posts. One from 2017 and one from 2018. What did the tweets say? "There is a 'try a hijab on' booth at my college campus. So you're telling me that it's now just a fashion accessory and not a religious thing? Or are you just trying to get women used to being oppressed under Islam?"

Provocative? Sure. But then again what’s the deal with the booth in the first place? What would happen if say crosses were sold at a booth on campus? They’d be completely cool with it, right? Additionally, and inconvenient truth, Islam under Sharia law does call for women to be subservient to men.

The other Tweet, "Did you know the majority of black deaths are caused by other blacks? Fix problems within your own community before blaming others." Again, factually correct.

These are two postings that are old and were public well before she won the pageant. If they were such a problem, why was she even allowed to compete? Instead, after winning, leftists dug these out to try to harm her and succeeded with organizers that apparently are opposed to provocative facts, at least when a conservative presents them. This has resulted in Kathy Zhu saying:“Coming out as conservative is harder than coming out as gay”. Is she right? A study was published in the journal Social Justice Research in late 2017 that sheds some light on the topic.

The study found that those who identified as liberals were far more likely to acknowledge something that runs counter to their political beliefs and more likely to become angry about those positions. The study used an MRI to monitor brain activity in addition to physical changes. In other words, conservatives are generally more tolerant than liberals. Exactly the opposite of the mainstream narrative. So yes, it’s probably easier to come out of the closet as gay than conservative.
