Swimmers are being urged to be aware of their surroundings before entering the water after a hammerhead shark was spotted off the coast of Anna Maria Island.
Corinne Lough was with her family members on a boat nearly 300 feet away from the shore yesterday when they noticed a hammerhead shark circling their boat.
She said the family originally thought it was a dolphin before taking a closer look.
The sighting comes just days after a hammerhead shark was seen near the shore in Nokomis.
