The Risk For Measles In Florida Increasing

The risk of a Measles outbreak in Florida is increasing.

Over four-thousand students entered public kindergarten with exemptions from vaccines this school year in Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties. Private schools numbers are even higher. Almost six percent of Florida's students statewide entered school with some form of exemption from the required vaccinations.

The CDC says the U.S. is seeing a surge in the number of confirmed cases of measles. The reports states the number of cases has spiked by nearly 20-percent in less than two weeks, with more than 550 cases confirmed in 20 states so far this year.
