The City of Miami is rolling out a new pilot program for scooters.
For now, the two-wheeled, electric-powered devices will only be allowed in District 2 of the city, which includes downtown, Brickell, and Coconut Grove.
To participate, each of the six companies had to pay an upfront fee and will pay a share of each scooter ride.
The money will then be used to improve the city's bike lanes.
If the six-month program is a success, it could be rolled out to all of Miami.
