Broward's top cop calling for tweaks in the controversial school Promise Program aimed at softening school punishments and reducing student arrests. Sheriff Gregory Tony wants to work with the Superintendent to create a program ensuring students don't fall through the cracks. The Broward Chiefs of Police Association already pulled its support for Promise. President -and Lauderhill Police Chief Constance Stanley-says it's too lenient and does not track students well. Admitted Parkland school shooter Nikolas Cruz was referred to the program in 2013 after vandalizing a school bathroom.The public safety commission investigating massacre says the program had no direct connection to the shooting, but it's flawed.
