A snake is to blame for power outages over the weekend that affected 1,600 homes and city traffic lights in Pasco County.
The homes lost power for about an hour after a snake ended up in their equipment according to Withlacoochee River Electric Cooperative spokesperson, David Lambert.
Workers believe a bird likely dropped the snake onto a breaker, which caused the outage that could cost up to $80,000.
Power has since been restored, WREC crews are not anticipating any further issues. The breaker will have to be replaced, which could cost up to $80,000.
The snake did not survive.
