After nearly a month on the job, Broward County's new sheriff says he's looking ahead to the future.
Governor Ron DeSantis appointed Gregory Tony as sheriff after suspending Scott Israel for his handling of the mass shooting in Parkland.
Tony says he will run for the office in 2020 so he can follow through on his initiatives to improve the agency.
Sheriff Tony says he's focused on improving the training of the 28-hundred deputies in the department and will ask the county to invest in new facilities, including a shooting range and simulation center.
