As we’re in the wake of the President’s State of the Union address and the spin is in, it’s a good time to reset with just the facts. First, we've had the best economic growth since 2005 and the best personal income growth since 1987. Unemployment rate for Asians, African Americans, Hispanic Americans, Native Americans, and women are at record lows. When it comes to quality of life, we've had the best on record for Millennial adults who earn approximately 20% more than their parents at the same age-adjusted for inflation. Lastly, divorce rates are at a 42-year low.
If you knew nothing else about what’s going on right now that’s impressive. The bigger question is why we wouldn’t want to do everything we could to support the policies that brought us to this point. Again, the most pervasive form of bias in news media is omission. But as I’m always quick to remind people, you lie to someone about what they don’t know but you can’t lie to them about the job they do or don’t have, the money they’re making or if they’re happily married as the case may be. I’m optimistic that despite the omission and deception by news media at large, most people do or will get it, especially against the backdrop of the previous administration and economy.
