MIA Air Traffic Controllers Walking Miami International Terminals

Members of the National Air Traffic Controllers Association passing out pamphlets to passengers at Miami International explaining how Uncle Sam's partial shutdown is taking a toll on them as it goes into Day 26.

Spokesman Bill Kisseadoo says most controllers are distracted and stressed out, wondering how they're going to make ends meet as they continue working without pay.

He stresses as a passenger you don't have a reason to fear flying, but he adds layers of protection that are supposed to be there aren't, and "they're being peeled away little by little."

He says the shutdown will only worsen the staffing crisis they've had since the last shutdown in 2013, which has also stopped all modernization projects at the FAA.
