Child Abuse Goes Up After Report Cards

When report cards go home on a Friday, child abuse goes up on Saturday.  That's according to a new study that looked at data from Florida Public Schools and the state's child abuse hotline.  

Researchers say that abuse can possibly be linked to a parent's anger about school performance or behavior.  The uptick is only when grades are released on a Friday, with researchers speculating that parents might avoid abusing a child when they have to go back to school the next day.  

The study is published in JAMA Pediatrics.
