Parkland Panel Recommends Arming Teachers

(Parkland, FL)  --  A panel reviewing the massacre at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida says giving teachers guns and bolstering security will stop future mass shootings.

A state commission on the Parkland shooting voted to include a recommendation to arm teachers who undergo training.  The state legislature would still have to pass such a measure.

A draft of the group's report also faults the school for security breaches that allowed a gunman to kill 17 people on Valentine's Day.  Nikolas Cruz was captured that same day and is facing charges of first-degree murder.
