Florida Senator Bill Nelson delivering an emotional farewell speech on the Senate Floor this afternoon. The Democrat was defeated by his Republican opponent Florida Governor Rick Scott in a heated election that led to a recount. Nelson reminisced on the time he became the second member of Congress to fly into space.
Nelson says it's the small unnoticed steps toward progress that have made the journey worthwhile. He has served in Congress for 29 years as both a Senator and a member of the House of Representatives.
