Former Arizona Congresswoman Gabby Giffords is endorsing Florida Democratic gubernatorial candidate Andrew Gillum.
Giffords said in a statement on Wednesday that she's endorsing Gillum "because he acknowledges the heartbreak gun violence causes in his state and he is working to stop it."
Giffords said Gillum has the courage to stand up to the corporate gun lobby.
Giffords has been an advocate for tougher gun laws since she was shot in the head while meeting with people in her district nearly eight years ago.
A shooting at a high school in Parkland killed 17 students and educators in February of this year.
