Authorities have arrested a woman who fled the scene after striking and killing an elderly man in Hialeah while behind the wheel of a stolen car.
Maydelis Pulido, 23, was arrested early Thursday on a charge of leaving the scene of a crash involving death in the Tuesday crash that killed 79-year-old Orlando Quiala, Hialeah Police officials said.
Pulido was driving a stolen Red 2007 Toyota Corolla south on East 4th Avenue approaching East 17th Street when she made a left turn and struck Quiala as he was crossing the street, police said.
She fled the scene, leaving Quiala lying on the road critically injured and fighting for his life, officials said.
He was airlifted to Jackson Memorial Hospital where he later died.
Police didn't say what led them to Pulido but said the arrest came after detectives worked "diligently day and night following every lead possible."
Pulido was booked into jail where she being held on $10,000 bond Thursday, records showed.
