A new era is beginning in Bal Harbour.
On Wednesday evening, the village will be swearing in its first African American Police Chief.
Captain Raleigh Flowers Jr. is being promoted to top cop after joining Bal Harbour's police in 2015.
The Miami native began his law enforcement career with Hialeah police.
The swearing in ceremony is set to take place at 6:30 p.m.
