The Sunshine State is shoveling in another $4-million to help Southwest Florida communities impacted by red tide.
The Department of Environmental Protection has now provided a total of $13-million in grant funding to deal with the red tide and the blue-green algae caused by federal water releases from Lake Okeechobee.
Last month, Governor Rick Scott declared a state of emergency because of red tide.
The toxic algae has been killing sea life and causing respiratory problems in humans.
