A South Florida man is recovering after his girlfriend's ex-boyfriend attacked the couple and stabbed him in Davie, authorities said.
The entire incident was caught on camera.
On July 21, Christopher Lowery took his girlfriend, Megan Berger, to a surprise birthday party at the Painting With A Twist located at 5810 S. University Drive in Davie.
As he was walking Berger up to the business blindfolded for the surprise, a pickup truck came around the corner driving directly at them, according to authorities.
Officials say the truck was driven by 34-year-old Richard Madruga, the ex-boyfriend of Berger, whom she has two children with, according to a Davie Police report.
Madruga allegedly opened the door and attempted to exit as Lowery pushed it closed.
Lowery told officers that Madruga had a gun in his hand that he dropped as the door slammed. Madruga then armed himself with two screwdrivers and began to stab lowery during a scuffle.
After the fight was broken up, Madruga drove away, according to a news release.
Lowery received multiple scratches and stab wounds for injuries sustained during the incident. He was treated at the emergency room where he received staples to close a wound in his head.
Madruga was located and placed under arrest. He faces a charge of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
