A memorial service is being be held Monday night in honor of the Fort Lauderdale native killed in last week's shooting at a newspaper in Maryland.
The family of Rob Hiaasen is holding a celebration of his life in Owings Mills, Maryland.
The 59-year-old Hiassen was an assistant editor of the "Capital Gazette" and previously worked at the "Baltimore Sun" and "Palm Beach Post."
He was a graduate of Plantation High School and the University of Florida and the brother of novelist and longtime Miami Herald columnist Carl Hiaasen.
