How much exercise do you need to improve your thinking skills?
A new University of Miami study finds people who exercise an average of at least 52 hours over a six month time period, for an hour each session, may improve thinking skills. Study Author, Dr. Joyce Gomes-Osman, says the results suggest a longer-term exercise program may be necessary to gain the benefits in thinking skills and says the type of exercise you do, isn't limited to cardio.
"Weightlifting, resistance training, which we prescribe a lot in order for older adults to keep their muscles and their bones healthy. Those types of exercises were also helpful for thinking skills," said Dr. Gomes-Osman.
The study didn't find a relationship between a weekly amount of exercise and improved thinking skills.
