Investigators in Tampa have located the mother of a baby who they say was found abandoned at an intersection.
Someone found the newborn baby boy, who was about 12- to 18-hours-old, at 18th Street and 143rd Avenue Thursday evening.
The baby was taken to a nearby hospital in critical but stable condition, according to Spectrum Bay News 9.
An investigation ensued and deputies were able to identify and then locate the child's mother overnight. Authorities have not said if the woman will face any charges.
An investigation is ongoing as authorities try to uncover the circumstances of why the baby was abandoned.
Officials issued a reminder that there are safe spaces to drop off newborns, including hospitals and fire stations.
