The Skin Cancer Foundation is sending its mobile clinic to the streets of Miami to diagnose and treat skin cancer in local beach-goers.
The 38-foot mobile clinic is visiting Miami June 9-10.
The RV has two exam rooms where dermatologists will give free screenings and educate patients about:
- Protecting themselves from the sun
- Treating sunburns
- What medications cause photosensitivity
SCF estimates that 7,940 Floridians will be diagnosed with melanoma (a form of skin cancer) this year. But with early detection, skin cancers are almost always curable.
The mobile clinic is starting in New York this week and will make 40 stops before ending in Boston in August.
