Funny lady and cancer survivor Fran Drescher is headlining tonight's Memorial Cancer Institute's lecture series.
It's a part of the 2nd annual Wellness and Empowerment Forum.
Drescher was diagnosed with uterine cancer 18 years ago.
She describes that day as, "a very defining moment for me. It was, you know, BC and AC... Before cancer and after cancer. And I became an activist. I started to recognize the silver linings that began to kick in for me, and my whole life changed in a very radical and profound way. But I'm not glad I had cancer. I don't wish it on anyone. I am better for it, and sometimes the best gifts come out of the ugliest packages. I have turned my pain into purpose."
Drescher tells her cancer story to WIOD's Erica Rodriguez and speaks about her Cancer Schmancer movement.
