Islamorada's Iconic Cheeca Lounge Reopens For First Time Since Irma

Another major Florida Keys resort is reopening after suffering heavy damage from Hurricane Irma.

Islamorada's iconic Cheeca Lodge Resort & Spa resumes operations for the first time this Friday, after more than six months since Irma's storm surge devastated the Keys. 

The resort's lobby and landscaping were hit hard, and a 525-foot-long oceanside dock was destroyed. 

Many of the rooms were flooded.

After a $25 million dollar face lift, tourism officials say 80 percent of the Florida Keys' lodging properties can now host visitors.
