A University of Florida student is accused of killing his mother in Polk County.

The sheriff's office announced yesterday that Emmanuel Espinoza stabbed his 46-year-old mother to death on Saturday at her home in Frostproof.

The 21-year-old Espinoza is a pre-med student at UF.

Deputies say he confessed to killing her because she "got on his nerves."

He's charged with first-degree murder.
