Jupiter Island's Tiger Woods plans to play in next month's U.S. Open after accepting a special exemption.

Woods says, "I'm he's honored to receive the special exemption" after his five-year pass expired. He could not be "more excited for the opportunity to play the event he has won three times."

Tiger Woods had promised that he would "never be the guy who accepts special exemptions into Major Championships."

But that was when he was younger and winning.

Woods obviously never expected to actually need an exemption to compete in the US Open at age 48.
