A Treasure Coast school teacher was killed in a crash over the weekend in Polk County.

Authorities say 52-year old Josie Maldonado and 54-year old Luis Rodriguez died in a two-vehicle wreck along State Road 60, east of County Road 630 while the couple was on their way home from Busch Gardens Tampa. Their three-year old grandson survived the crash.

Also killed was 22-year old Hannah Wieser of Winter Haven, who was driving the second vehicle when she struck the couple's pickup truck head-on.

Maldonado taught ESOL or English language learners from other countries at West Gate K-8 School in Port St. Lucie and grief counselors have been on hand for students and staff who need them.

Maldonado and Rodriguez' family has started a GoFundMe page to help pay for funeral costs.
