Monday Marks 1-Year Anniversary Of Marlins' Jose Fernandez's Death

Monday marks the one-year anniversary since Miami Marlins ace Jose Fernandez died in a boating accident off the coast of Miami Beach.

He was only 24-years-old when his highly-promising baseball career ended in the violent crash.

His mother Maritza was joined by Fernandez's daughter Penelope and other relatives Sunday night in a remembrance event at South Pointe.

Fernandez- according to a report - was both drunk and high on cocaine when he and two friends were killed on the boat he crashed into the north jetty at Government Cut.

The family plans to return to Government Cut early Monday, but will spend the rest of the day mourning privately.
