A significant show of good faith coming from the City of Miami this afternoon.

It's reached out to the Miami-Dade Police Benevolent Association saying it will accept applications for one hundred certified police officers next month.

Miami-Dade Mayor Carlos Gimenez' budget currently calls for 250 layoffs within the police department.

Police Benevolent Association President John Rivera says they're also receiving support from other departments.

"We've actually been approached by the City of Hollywood, the city of Plantation," adds Rivera. "Yesterday as a matter of fact the City of Naples contacted us."

Deputy Director Juan Perez also speaking out over the budget concerns, riling up the crowd during Thursday's cadet graduation ceremony.
