It was a close vote, but the Florida House has approved a bill allowing the Department of Transportation to raise highway speed limits from 70 to 75 miles per hour.

Opponents say it's a bad idea because speed kills.

Since it's already passed the Senate, the bill is headed for the governor.

If the governor goes along, it does not mean speed limits will automatically be raised.

The Florida DOT will have the final say on which roads should have a 75 mile per hour limits.
