The push for a ceasefire in Gaza continues, and South Floridians are among those calling for peace in the Middle East.

Community activists gathered outside Miami's Israeli consulate Friday afternoon holding protest signs against the billions of dollars in United States military aid to Israel.

Organizer Guillermo Marquez-Stirling says the violence has to stop and calls Israel's offensive against Palestinians "apartheid."

United States Senator Marco Rubio (R-Florida), though, says what's happening in Gaza is entirely the fault of Hamas militants, not Israel, saying nobody wants peace more than Israel, but pointing to the use of human shields on the Palestinian side of the fighting.

The Israeli offensive is now in its 18th day.
