Three busloads of Venezuelans from Miami are in Washington, D.C., to show support for sanctions against the Venezuelan government.

United States Senator Marco Rubio (R-Florida) spoke this week during a Senate Foreign Relations Committee meeting, telling Obama administration official that, when it comes to sanctions, there's no time like the present.

The main Venezuelan opposition group has said it supports United States sanctions against the government of President Nicolas Maduro.

Rubio said Friday his effort to impose sanctions got a boost after the main opposition group in Venezuela said it supports the move.

Forty-one Venezuelans have died during protests against the government in the past four months.
