The trial to figure out if state legislators broke the law drawing-up new political maps is underway.

A coalition is contending that the 20-12 Florida Legislature drew up gerrymandered congressional maps that violated Florida's "Fair Districts" amendment.

The lawsuit says the new districts violated standards set by the 20-10 amendment which says maps cannot be redrawn to benefit incumbents or ruling parties.

Attorneys for the Legislature call the allegations false.
