As students of South Florida public schools enjoy their last few days of summer break, the school systems in the area are preparing to welcome hundreds of thousands of students back into the classrooms Monday, August 18th.

Miami-Dade County Public Schools, specifically, will open its doors to an estimated 355,000 students and transport more than 60,000 students using the district's bus fleet.

To assist parents in preparing for the first day of school, the district has created what it calls the Back-to-School Kit.

The kit has pertinent information on subjects including Choice schools, dual enrollment, hours, important dates, graduation requirements, ways to get involved in education, and school safety.
