Miami Commissioners are moving forward with a lower tax rate for residents.
Commissioners giving preliminary approval this afternoon to Mayor Tomas Regalado's property tax rate proposal.
While the rate is lower than last year, The Mayor and union leaders are at odds over where the money should go.
The Mayor wants to put a surplus into reserves, while some commissioners are pushing to hire more cops and invest in parks.
Union leaders want concessions restored.
The vote sets the stage for what's expected to be plenty of debates over the city's $552 Million general fund this fall.
