The fight to legalize medical marijuana passes another hurdle in Tallahassee.

A bill permitting doctors to prescribe a strain of medical marijuana for people who suffer from seizures has been approved by the Criminal Justice committee in the Florida House.

The chairman of the committee -- Representative Dennis Baxley -- voted against it because he's worried about the message they'll be sending.

But Representative Cary Pigman says pot is nowhere near as dangerous as some other prescribed drugs.

The bill only allows one, less powerful, strain of marijuana known as "Charlotte's Web."

It reduces and even eliminates seizures but have has almost none of the T-H-C found in other types of pot. That's the compound that produces the high.
