Some holiday cheer is spreading across South Florida Friday.

The Miami Rescue Mission is celebrating its 6th annual Christmas in July event, serving thousands of homeless people at its centers in Miami, Hollywood, and Pompano.

They'll be taking donations and handing out clothing and sneakers to homeless adults and kids.

Ronald Brummitt with the Miami Rescue Mission says it's a special event for everyone involved.

"You can come down to one of our centers, or you can do a food drive, a clothing drive, a toy drive, a hygiene-product drive," Brummitt continues, "and help us with the expenses of providing for so many people every single day.

Brummit says while homelessness is falling, they're still serving 1,300 people every single day.
