UPDATE 5/23 11:50am
A proposed Major League Soccer Stadium on a boat slip next to the American Airlines Arena has people speaking out.
Environmental impacts, a lack of parking ... just some of the things people aren't happy with.
Former Miami Mayor Manny Diaz says waterfront property isn't the place for another stadium.
Diaz says people would be outraged if it were a condo developer who made a similar proposal to fill the boat slip and build on park land.
He adds that many of the vacant lots downtown used for parking have submitted development plans which would considerably cut down on the number of spots available.

After getting the no-go for a soccer stadium at PortMiami, Miami Beckham United releases plans for what a soccer stadium on a boat slip next to the American Airlines Arena would look like.
The plan has the backing of Miami-Dade Mayor Carlos Gimenez and City Mayor Tomas Regalado.
No word yet on exact design details-most likely they will depend on whether the possibility of the Miami Hurricanes playing at the stadium becomes a reality.
