There is good news for Florida Power and Light customers

Company spokeswoman Alys Daly says electric bills are going down next year.

"We are expecting them to decrease for a typical 1000 kilowatt-hour residential customer, we'll see about a $2 decrease," said Daly.

Daly says the change is thanks to high-efficiency power plants that are reducing costs.

In fact, customers have seen continuous rate decreases since 2009.

In 2015, Daly says, rates will be 9 percent lower than they were in 2009.

The rate changes still need to be approved by the Florida Public Service Commission.
