Some Great American Fun taking place in Fort Lauderdale today.

The city is holding its 5th annual Great American Beach Party starting at 10 a.m. and lasting until 8:30pm.

Tens of thousands of people making their way to A-1-A and Las Olas Bouelvard for a day of music, entertainment, and tributes.

Mayor Jack Seiler says even with a fun-filled event like this, they still have their priorities straight.

"Mid-way through the day we pause, and don't lose sight about what memorial day is all about..." adds Seiler, "We actually do a military tribute and a tribute to our veterans and to the men and women who served and paid the ultimate sacrifice."

Seiler says the city benefits economically from events like this, as the city has seen 52-straight months of tourism growth.
